Does it seem like you are constantly filling up the gas tank of your SUV at the gas station? Did you know that you can go nearly 45 MPG on a 1000cc or higher cruiser motorcycle, and on a smaller motorcycle or scooter 60 MPG is not out of the question!
Europeans have been riding motorcycles and scooters for years to save money. So now it may become a new trend in the United States. We have always thought of owning a motorcycle as a toy or a luxury and as gas prices soar to $5.00 a gallon, it may be time to consider why our overseas friends have been using motorcycles as there daily transportation for years. Two wheel transportation became a natural consequence of high gas prices in Europe, so not only was it an economically a good choice it came with a bonus of being a fun means of transportation!
Considering the fact that most motorcycles and scooter can go nearly four times further on a gallon of gas, switching to one of these modes of transportation for your daily commute is an option that makes sense. The monthly payments on a motorcycle will probably be far less than what it would take to fill the gas tank on your SUV for a month. In the 1970's gas prices soared during the energy crisis, and motorcycle sales reached record levels, as the saying goes, history repeats itself.
So, if you’ve been thinking about buying a motorcycle or scooter, it’s no longer a luxury expense you are trying to justify, it’s now become a practical alternative! You can smile as you drive past all those gas stations with the signs at $5.00 per gallon and you’ll be smiling because you are saving money and having fun at the same time! |
